Lord Jagannath needs YOU!

Dear Devotees and Friends,

Lord Jagannath’s Ratha-Yatra down Fifth Avenue, the world’s most famous street, in the world’s most famous city, is less than 3 days away! Radha Govinda Mandir is buzzing with excitement as devotees are coming every day to assist the devotees and volunteers headed by Satya devi dasi in preparing for this grand celebration!

Although the Supreme Lord, Sri Jagannath Deva is completely independent of his creation, He is giving all of us the supreme opportunity to render personal service to Him and His pure devotees through the Ratha Yatra festival.   For this festival to take place without a hitch, we need devotees to come forward and volunteer to render as much service as they can.

On Friday June 10, we will need volunteers to come in the morning to help make garlands to decorate the Lord’s chariots.  Around noontime we will need devotees to come to help cut vegetables for Saturday’s festival prasadam feast, made for up to 10,000 people, and will be served in Washington Square Park all afternoon.

Friday evening will require the help of volunteers to help load the trucks with festival equipment which will be sent to the festival site early Saturday morning in preparation for the day’s events.

Please give some time and come to the temple on Friday June 10, 2011 at any time to assist the devotees in serving the Supreme Lord Jagannath.
