Celebrate Sharad Purnima @ Radha Govinda Mandir!

Sharad-Purnima Festival

on Saturday October 3, 2009 starting @ 7pm

This is the first night of the Month-long Damodara Festival, during which devotees get to offer small lamps to Lord Damodara. This is also the first night of Lord Krsna’s Rasa dance. This special month, known as Kartika, is very auspicious for practicing Bhakti-yoga.

At Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir, for the special month of Kartika, the chanting of the Damodarastakam bhajans and offering of lamps (or candles) will be observed as follows:

Sri Krishna Janmastami 2009 @ Radha Govinda Mandir!

Hare Krishna! Please accept our greetings from Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir!

Thursday August 13, 2009 is a very special and auspicious day in the year. It is the day of the divine appearance of Lord Sri Krishna! On this day the practicing Vaishnavas observe fast till 12 midnight.

At Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir, this festival will be celebrated starting at 4:30 AM with Mangala Arati. At 7:30 AM Sri Sri Radha Govinda appear in a stunning new dress, handcrafted in Sri Vrindavana Dhama,and embellished with the finest fresh flowers – roses, jasmine, gardenia, orchids and more! The morning program will be followed by a special Srimad Bhagavatam recitation discussing the topics of Lord Krishna’s appearance. The darshans of Their Lordships will be open for the whole day until 3:30pm.

At 7:00pm Sri Sri Radha Govindadeva will appear in an awe inspiring and stunning flower dress, designed and created by the NY temple devotees and made of the finest flowers imported from different parts of the world. This year’s dress will feature more than 500 Select Gardenia flowers ( one of the largest and most fragrant flowers in the world) imported from California.

All evening long, prasad will be available, with a special anukalpa (ekadasi-style) feast served at 12:30am.

*** – IMPORTANT NOTICE: ***

On weekdays, street parking is free at all meters after 7:00pm. We humbly request all devotees who plan to visit the temple with their vehicle to plan enough time to find legal parking on the streets. We request that devotees try to refrain from double parking on any street. The NYC Police Dept are very quick to arrive at the scene and will tow your car away if they choose to, or you will be set with a $150 ticket.

For those who cannot find street parking, the temple recommends devotees to park at a valet parking lot on the ground floor of a new condominium complex adjacent to the NYC Department of Labor building located at the Southeast corner of Bond and Schermerhorn Streets. For a nominal fee,you will be able to park your car till 1:00am.

If you choose to visit the temple via Public transportation, Please plan your trip to allow for sufficient time for the return journey.

Lord Balarama’s Appearance Day Celebrations – August 5 2009

Dear Devotees and Friends,

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009 is a very auspicious day. It is the day of the divine appearance of Sri Balaramji, the elder brother of Lord Krishna. On this day the practicing Vaishnavas observe fasting till noon (1200hrs).

At Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir, this festival will be celebrated starting at 6:00pm. The program will include an Abhishek of Lord Balarama at 7:00pm, followed by a lecture on the pastimes & glories of Lord Balarama, concluding with a sumptuous vegetarian dinner feast for all. We invite all of you along with your family & friends to participate in this festival and relish the ecstatic melodious bhajans & kirtans.

Furthermore, on this day, we will also celebrate the Jhulan Yatra festival of Sri Sri Radha Govinda, also starting at 7:00pm.

Celebrate Sri Sri Radha Govinda’s Jhulan Yatra festival!

Dear Devotees and Friends,

Tomorrow, August 1, 2009 is a auspicious day. This day is the start of one of the most awaited festivals among devotees of Lord Krishna. On this day the swing pastimes of Sri Sri Radha Krishna, the Jhulan Yatra, commences.

The swing pastimes of Sri Sri Radha Govinda are very elaborately celebrated across the various important temples of Sri Vrindavan Dham and also the various temples of ISKCON, the world over. Here in New York, @ Radha Govinda Mandir,  the small deities of Sri Sri Radha Krishna are brought out of the altar and onto an elaborate swing where all the devotees get a chance to personally swing the Lord.

At Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir, this festival will occur every evening starting at 7.00PM. We invite all of you along with your family & friends to participate in this festival and relish the ecstatic melodious bhajans & kirtans.

This festival will go on every evening till August 5th, Sri Balaram’s Appearance day. Then it will continue on the following festival days: Sunday August 9, 16, 23, Sri Krsna Janmastami August 13, ending on Sri Radhastami Festival Thurs August 27 evening.

This year, Lord Jagannath’s Ratha-Yatra Festival will be celebrated on Saturday June 13, 2009, starting at 12pm from 59th Street and 5th Avenue, and will proceed down 5th Avenue to Washington Square Park.

Lord Jagannath’s Ratha-yatra is now less than three weeks away and we need your help. Please consider committing to service and charity in support of the annual festival. We need your service to please Srila Prabhupada.
